(WIAT) — Hundreds of children – friends and classmates – released balloons in honor of ten-year-old Luke Bresette on Friday.
Luke was known for his cute dimples and his love for chocolate and, although he was young, Luke touched a lot of hearts in Kansas City.
On Friday, his friends and classmates got a chance to send Luke a message in Heaven and let him know just how much he meant to them.
The children gathered at Luke’s school and released balloons at the request of the Bresette family.
Friday wasn’t just a time for Luke’s classmates to gather and honor him, though.
Some of Luke’s family members were at Luke’s school for the ceremony as well.
“If anything it’s the support of this country, the support of everyone [that] has made a tragic time more bearable,” Luke’s uncle Alex Bresette said on Friday. “Maybe not easier. Maybe not anything more than just a bit more bearable.”
The red, white and blue-colored balloons represented Luke’s school as well as some of his favorite sports teams.
