BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Barbecue is one of the South’s staple foods. In Alabama, it’s the source of a competition to find the state’s best barbecue.
The Year of Alabama Food’s Barbecue Bracket competition recently progressed to the championship round, and Jim ‘N Nick’s, a local barbecue restaurant, is in the championship round.
The restaurant beat Big Bob Gibson Barbecue in Decatur by 190 votes.
Now, it will be pitted against Sam’s Barbecue in Montgomery for the championship title.
Voting begins on Monday.
