(WIAT) — According to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, two men have been charged with Capital Murder in the death of Floyd Thomas Carlee.
24-year-old Corey Steven Clark of Bessemer and 28-year-old Christopher Lee Baughn of Hueytown were arrested by sheriff’s detectives on April 3, 2013 and April 4, 2013, respectively.
Carlee was reported missing to Bessemer Police on July 29, 2012 by family members.
A missing persons investigation was launched, but authorities were unable to locate Carlee.
On March 20, 2013, Carlee’s body was discovered in the Warrior River by a man who was fishing.
The man notified the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office who in turn launched an investigation.
According to the release, sheriff’s detectives found that the Carlee was robbed and beaten to death at a mobile home park on 4th Avenue in Bessemer. Carlee’s body was then placed into the river in an attempt to cover up the murder.
Clark and Baughn are being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
