MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) – On Tuesday, Governor Robert Bentley signed House Bill 57, also known as the Women’s Health and Safety Act. The bill, amongst other details, would require physician involvement in an abortion performed at an abortion or reproductive health center.
The bill is similar to one signed in Mississippi, and like that law, is expected to trigger legal challenges. One organization that will likely challenge the bill is Planned Parenthood Southeast.
