(WIAT) — A new baseball field was dedicated in Jasper after several years of planning.

The George Lindsey Dream Field will provide athletes with special needs with the opportunity to participate in games for the first time without getting injured.

The baseball field uses a rubber surface and inlaid bases designed to accommodate athletes with special needs.

The rubber surface cost $130,000.

Games began on Tuesday night at the field. Games are scheduled for every Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
