(WIAT) — The Jefferson County Commission approved an updated contract with UAB Hospital for Cooper Green Mercy Hospital.
UAB already planned to provide inpatient services for patients of Cooper Green.
The preferred provider agreement made on Thursday lays out financial terms.
The agreement sets an annual cap of $10 million, an amount based on UAB Hospital’s estimations.
If costs exceed that amount the Jefferson County Commission can raise the annual cap.
Inpatient care ended at Cooper Green on January 1, 2013. The hospital is working on provider agreements with other Birmingham-area hospitals.
