Birmingham newspaper publisher laid to rest

(WIAT) — A man who played a large role in the Birmingham community was laid to rest on Thursday.

Friends and family members remembered James Lewis Sr., the publisher of The Birmingham Times, at the First Congregational Church in Birmingham.

He took over as publisher for The Birmingham Times, a paper his father founded in 1964, fifteen years ago.

Lewis Sr. died on Sunday.

He was 68 years old.
