(WIAT) — A University of Alabama student plans to run for Tuscaloosa City Council.

22-year-old senior Matt Calderone, a former intern at City Hall, is seeking the District Four seat being vacated by Lee Garrison.

Garrison joined  the Tuscaloosa City Council when he was a 22-year-old student as well.

Calderone was hired at City Hall during the April 27, 2011 storms.

His experience is due in large part to his time served as the University of Alabama’s Student Government Association’s president.
