(WIAT) – Jasper police are searching for a man they say drove the getaway car in the city’s latest shooting.

Police say it happened Thursday afternoon outside R.J.’s Service Station.

The victim was standing outside when a car pulled up.

A passenger hops out of the car and starts shooting … hitting the victim once under the arm.

The men sped away, but the shooter was caught later that evening in Cordova.

Police are still searching for the driver.

As for the victim, he was taken into surgery at UAB hospital for the gunshot wound.

Crimes like this one, which happened in broad daylight, is a growing concern for many people in West Jasper.

They say drug dealers have moved into the neighborhood over the past few years along with more crime.
