TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team practiced in shells on Friday as they prepare for the second scrimmage of the spring with a two-hour workout on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
It was the 11th practice of the spring on Friday with the Crimson Tide slated to scrimmage Saturday inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The scrimmage is closed to the public. One of the keys to every spring is finding consistency of performance on both sides of the football.
“There are some guys that have done a lot of good things, but we need to continue to develop more consistency with the young players on our team so they can have a role,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “We need more players that can play winning football.”
The Alabama Coaching Clinic is in full swing on Friday with over 1,000 coaches on the University of Alabama campus honing their craft with the two-time defending National Champions. The clinic will hear from two current NFL head coaches in New Orleans’ Sean Payton and Indianapolis’ Chuck Pagano. The clinic will also feature two former NFL bosses in Super Bowl-winning coach Dick Vermeil and former Jets and Chiefs coach Herm Edwards.
The Tide will return to the practice field next week with work outs scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday leading into the A-Day Game.
Alabama’s 2013 A-Day Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. (CDT) inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The A-Day Game is once again free to the public and will be televised live on ESPN2.
