Cordova seeking more disaster relief assistance

CORDOVA, Ala. (WIAT) — Nearly two years after a destructive tornado tore through Cordova, the town is trying to get a second round of disaster relief.

The city plans to ask for $7 million in community development block grants.

The money would be used to rebuild City Hall, the Cordova Police Department and the Cordova Fire Department stations.

Governor Bentley said in March that Cordova would receive $120 million.

Plans to start the demolition of the town center are set for Tuesday, April 23.
