BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The President has ordered the United States flag flown at half staff to honor the victims of the Boston attack.
The flag outside the Jefferson County Sheriff’s was lowered Tuesday morning. Other public buildings across the state and country are doing the same.
President Obama made the official proclamation Tuesday morning. He also praised acts of kindness and generosity.
“If you want to know who we are, what America is–how we respond to evil– that’s it. Selflessly, compassionately and unafriad,“ the President said.
Governor Bentley made the same declaration Tuesday afternoon. Flags are ordered to remain that way until sunset on April 20th.
