(WIAT) — Financial consultants for the Birmingham Airport Authority say the airport modernization project is on track.

The amount of people using the airport has slightly declined since last year, but that’s not affecting plans for more construction.

Projections show traffic will pick up significantly over the next few years.

Once the projects are completed, the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport will be almost double its previous size.

On Wednesday, the Airport Authority released an 888-page document containing monthly progress reports from Brasfield & Gorrie, the company behind the renovations.

CBS42’s investigative team reviewed the documents looking for any design information for the display board that collapsed on top of the Bresette family on March 22, but they did not find that information.

The investigative team did have more questions for the Airport Authority, but after the Authority’s morning meeting this afternoon they denied to answer questions.
