Homewood Police hold fundraiser for Special Olympics

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Homewood Police Department hit the streets on Friday to give back to the community, and they’re asking for help.

They have stationed themselves at the Chik-fil-A in Homewood to raise money for the Special Olympics.

It is part of their annual “Cops on Top” event.

“Special Olympics is pretty much a worldwide fundraised for law enforcement,” Lieutenant Ken Atkinson said on Thursday. “That’s the reason the law enforcement torch run was created, and we’re there to raise money for the Special Olympics.”

Those who wish to make a donation can stop by the Chik-fil-A on Lakeshore Drive any time before 9 p.m. on Friday.
