Samford football concludes spring practice

Pat Sullivan watches over Samford Spring Practice

Birmingham, AL(WIAT)—The Samford football team wrapped up spring practice with a two-hour workout in full pads Friday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.

The team worked on the schemes of some its 2013 opponents during Friday’s workout. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said he was pleased with the team’s final practice of the spring.

“I thought we had a great practice,” Sullivan said. “We wanted to work on some things that we will see in the fall that we have not seen in the spring. I thought the attention of our guys was great and we did not waste a day this spring. I am excited about it.”

The Bulldogs went through 15 workouts during the spring, including two scrimmages. Sullivan was excited about the progress his team showed during the 15 workouts.

“Overall, I think this was the best spring we have ever had,” Sullivan said. “The enthusiasm of the guys and everything was really good. “

Now that spring practice is over, the Bulldogs will now concentrate on finishing the spring semester strong, academically. The team will then begin its offseason workouts with Strength and Conditioning Coach Ryan Davis.

“They have a lot to do,” Sullivan said. “First thing they have to do is finish up school and make sure they take care of their academics. They are all nicked up a little bit and need to get back healthy. It’s going be a huge summer in the weight room, getting that extra strength and conditioning to get ready to go for the fall.”

Samford opens the 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30. The Bulldogs will travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia State Panthers in the Georgia Dome.
