BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)– It was “mission accomplished” Saturday, April 20th for the latest lifesaving flight one organization offers free-of-charge for those in need of medical care. The Angel Flight Soars program provided Patricia Brooks a ride to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida Saturday morning. The program is made up of volunteer pilots who donate their time and fuel costs. Brooks arrived back in Birmingham Saturday afternoon. She says without the free service, she wouldn’t be able to afford life-saving treatment. The Angel Flight Soars program provided more than 2,300 flights last year to patients in need.
