(WIAT) – Millions of people take part in the event ever year, and Earth Day celebrations didn’t skip over Birmingham.
Railroad Park was the back drop for an Earth Day picnic hosted by The Nature Conservancy Sunday.
Hundreds hit the park for food, games and educational sessions about conservation.
The picnic also served as a fundraiser. Local businesses and local individuals were asked to sponsor Adirondack chairs this year.
This year’s picnic was sponsored by Honda. Sales of hand painted chairs helped to raise more than $40,000 for The Nature Conservancy.
