(WIAT) — As the weather begins to change and the temperatures begin to rise, spring cleaning is just beginning.

Now, there is a way to clean out your closets and kitchens and give back to the community.

The Bargain Carousel, put on by the Junior League of Birmingham, collects donations of gently used items.

Those who visit the sale can buy donated items such as appliances, clothing and furniture.

The money raised from the sale of the items goes to about 30 community projects, including the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Children’s of Alabama.

The Bargain Carousel is Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.

It will be held at the former JcPenney at Century Plaza Mall.

On Saturday, the hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday’s hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission to the event is charged on Saturday only.
