(WIAT) — An Alabama teacher has a thousand new reasons to smile.

On Tuesday, CBS42 awarded Huffman High School teacher Mary Humphrey with a check for $1,000 as a part of the “One Class At A Time” grant program.

Humphrey applied for the grant so that she could take her cosmetology students to one of the nation’s best hair shows in Atlanta in February.

Humphrey is excited because her students will be able to learn the latest techniques from the experts.

The trip may also inspire the students to make cosmetology a lifelong career.

CBS42’s co-sponsors for the grant are Pepsi and America’s First Federal Credit Union.
