(WIAT) – A memorial was held in Cullman Thursday for all of the children who died of abuse and neglect here in Alabama last year.

21 balloons were released  representing each child.

There names were also attached to individual chairs just outside the Cullman County Courthouse.

Every chair included hobbies and careers the children may have liked if they had survived the abuse.

The goal behind the memorial was to raise awareness.

The event was sponsored by the Cullman Caring for Kids group which helps abused and neglected children.
