BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – Alabama Supreme Court Justice Mike Bolin has decided to stick with his current job rather than resigning to become Jefferson County’s attorney.
The Jefferson County Commission voted 3-2 last week to hire Bolin to represent Alabama’ s most populous county as it deals with bankruptcy and other issues. Commissioners said they received a letter from Bolin on Tuesday withdrawing his name. Bolin said that after much prayer and discussion with his wife, he plans to finish his career on the state’s highest court. Bolin served as Jefferson County’s probate judge before being elected to the Supreme Court in 2004.
Jefferson County commissioners said they will resume the search for a replacement for Jeff Sewell, who retired involuntarily.
