(WIAT) — Tuesday marks the 38-year anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

Those who gave their all were remembered in a special ceremony in Birmingham.

Vietnam Veterans and Associates placed a wreath in honor of the 5,800 veterans who were killed in battle.

They also laid a wreath for the 38 vets who returned home wounded and later died.

Organizers say it is a simple way to say thanks for all the sacrifices they made for America.
