(WIAT) – It’s a competition with a lot on the line — $100,000 and a chance to jumpstart a business, to be exact.

Alabama Launchpad began on Friday and featured five startup business teams from across the state.

Teams had the chance to go head-to-head for the ultimate prize, $100,000.

The contest is designed to keep startup businesses in the state by providing each team with needed resources.

The Economic Development Partnership of Alabama Foundation hosted the even.
