Police officer who died on duty honored in Montgomery

(WIAT) — A police officer who died on duty in 2011 was honored in Montgomery on Friday.

Fultondale police officer David Riddlseperger’s name was added to the Alabama Law Enforcement Memorial on the south lawn of the Alabama State Capitol .

He was 48 years old and served with the branch for five years after serving 20 years with the Birmingham Police Department.

Riddlesperger died after his patrol car crashed into a fitness club on Decatur Highway in October of 2011.
