(WIAT) — The “Big Banana Car” made a stop in Homewood on Monday. The car is on its way to Houston, Texas for an art car show.
Steve Braithwaite, the owner of the car, builds hot rods and says he got the idea to build the car while standing in a gas station admiring a bowl of fruit.
the car became street legal in May of 2011. Braithwaite and his crew drive the car around the world in June. They hope to utilize the attention to raise awareness for deep-vein thrombosis, a condition that claimed the life of the Braithwaite’s mother.
