(WIAT) — The Tuscaloosa Rotary Honor Flight (TRHF) is taking the United States’ heroes to the Capitol.

Almost 100 World War II and Korean War veterans will take off later in May.

The flight is leaving on May 18, and is about 95 percent full.

The Honor Flight is also looking for a crowd to come out and celebrate when the plane touches back down in Tuscaloosa.

The Tuscaloosa Rotary Honor Flight recognizes American veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying them to Washington D.C. to see their memorial at no cost.

World War II, Korean War and terminally ill veterans (from all wars) are the TRHF’s top priority.

TRHF has plans to expand and include Vietnam War veterans.

The TRHF sends guardians with the veterans on every flight to provide assistance and help the veterans have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience.
