(WIAT) — Some of life’s simplest tasks get more difficult as you age.

Collat Jewish Family Services’ (CJFS) goal is to make those tasks easier with honor and dignity to the people they serve.

For the seniors they serve, CJFS is like a family.

Asya and Shunya use the many services they provide for seniors.

The two moved to Birmingham to be with their son.

When the unthinkable happened, CJFS stepped in.

“Our son died. We don’t drive. It is very difficult to go to the doctor, to go shopping, and Collat Jewish Family Services make [Asya and Shunya] feel real good,” Asya said.

A huge crowd gathered on Tuesday night to support CJFS at a fundraiser at the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

Broadway star Emily Skinner performed to help raise awareness about the services offered to seniors.

The services include transportation, helping with medications and even organizing bills and budgeting.
