(WIAT) — According to a press release from the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, a man out on bond on a capital murder charge in Alabama has been detained in Virginia.
Officers with the department pulled over a car that was driving 100 mph on Route 29.
After a check was conducted, officers discovered that 29-year-old Cameron Antoin Rayford, the driver of the vehicle, was out on bond in Alabama on a capital murder charge and was not supposed to leave the state.
Rayford was charged with reckless driving as well as being a fugitive from justice in Alabama.
He is charged in Jefferson County with the capital murder of two persons.
His passenger, Nikeem Jermal McDory, a 21-year-old, was charged with possession of a schedule III drug.
Both men are from Birmingham.
They are being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Adult Detention Center without bond.
