(WIAT) — Nurses spend hours and hours every day taking care of patients at local doctors offices and hospitals.
On Wednesday, organizations from across the United States took time out of their day to say thank you to the nurses.
At UAB Hospital, the National Nurse Week commemoration was more like a celebration.
Live music and food from some of the city-center’s most popular restaurants were set up outside the new Women and Infant’s Center as a way to help the workers unwind.
Organizers say it was a special way to honor the men and women who spend their days caring for others.
Some of the venders in attendance include Dream Cakes, Cantina , Spoonfed Grill and Greg’s Hot Dogs.
National Nurses Week ends on Sunday.
