Birmingham, AL (WIAT)-The Briarwood Christian boys and girls soccer teams punched their ticket to the Final Four in Huntsville.
“I got thirteen seniors, they know this is their swan song,” said head coach Mark Wallace. “Today is their last practice their ever going to have as a Briarwood student. You always want to win your last game.”
Their road to a state title continues tomorrow when both teams play Athens in the semifinals.
The boys missed out on a trip to the Final Four last season, meanwhile the girls fell to Athens in game one.
“We got so close last year but it was stripped away from us just like that so I think all of us want it that much more,” said senior Sarah Smeltzer. “I personally know how it feels to win. And to do that again, it would be awesome.”
The girls take the field at 1:30p.m on Friday. The boys game will begin at 3:45p.m.
