WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIAT) – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced two recalls on Thursday.

The recalls are for the Family Dollar Stores Optimus Tower Quarts heaters and Toro’s Zero Turn riding lawn mowers.

The heaters were recalled because they can overheat, causing a fire hazard.

The release by the CPSC says that people who have the heaters should stop using the product immediately.

The heaters are portable electric tower heaters that stand 25 inches tall and 10 inches wide.

Family Dollar says it has received 10 reports of overheating. Some of the reports also indicated temperature knobs on the heater melting.

Toro’s lawn mowers are being recalled because the idler pulley system can rub against the mower’s fuel tank, posing a fire hazard.

Six reports of incidents pertaining to the faulty idler pulley system have been reported to Toro.

The company advises all customers to stop using the recalled mowers immediately and contact a Toro dealer to schedule a free repair.

Consumers can also contact a Toro dealer to see if the repair has already been made to their mower.
