BIRMINGHAM, AL (WIAT) – UAB keeps adding to its basketball roster. Former Virginia Tech starter Robert Brown will transfer to UAB, the school announced on Thursday. The 6-5, 190 pound guard averaged 8.3 points per game this past season for the Hokies. He will have two years of eligibility beginning in the 2014-15 season.
“We are thrilled to have Robert Brown joining our program,” Blazers Head Coach Jerod Haase said. “As a person and as a basketball player, he will be a huge part of our program in the years to come. His ability to score in different ways will be valuable to this team and he fits in perfectly to the up-tempo, fast style of basketball that we want to play. He comes from a great family and we are very excited about them joining our family.”
According to reports, Brown wanted to transfer closer to his hometown. Brown is a Clermont, Florida native. He joins two JUCO transfers who have signed with UAB in the past two weeks.
