(WIAT) — There will be 14 vacant school buildings in Birmingham after the recent consolidation plans are complete according to Birmingham School Spokesperson, Michaelle Chapman.
Some schools have been resting empty in communities for years with no activity.
Birmingham city leaders hope to work with developers to build homes to bring in more families to Birmingham.
At least in one case, city officials will have to get a resolution for toxic contamination concerns first.
