(WIAT) — On Friday, the late Coretta Scott King received quite a rose dedication at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The Birmingham Rose Society introduced the rose bush in honor of Coretta Scott King as a part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the civil rights movement.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to honor moms this year than to honor a very famous mom who was very instrumental in the civil rights movement in [Birmingham],” Chris Van Cleave, President of the Birmingham Rose Society said.

All are invited to the Birmingham Rose Show at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, where 400 different varieties of roses will be on display.

The show starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free.
