Eastern Kentucky Avoids the Sweep, Beats Jax State

RICHMOND, KY (WIAT) – Jacksonville State’s baseball team was ready to break out the brooms on Sunday against Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels (18-30, 14-12 OVC) had other things in mind, beating the Gamecocks (29-23, 20-7 OVC) 14-6 to close out their three-game series.

Tony Urban took the loss for JSU, giving up four runs in 1 2/3 innings. EKU came alive in the third inning, highlighted by a 2-run home run from Austin Grisham. JSU cut into the lead in the sixth inning as two runs came across to cut the lead to 10-6, but they would get no closer.

The Gamecocks are back in action on Tuesday at Auburn. They return home Thursday to begin their final OVC series of the year against Morehead State (15-37, 9-18 OVC).
