ELON, NC (WIAT) – Samford’s baseball team got a big day from senior OF Christiaan Durdaller in a 6-4 win over Elon on the road. Durdaller went 3-for-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI to lead the way for the Bulldogs.
The two home runs gave Durdaller 14 for the year, which leads the team.
“Those were huge hits,” Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. “The two home runs, obviously were big, but that two-strike, two-out single to knock in that extra run meant a lot.”
Cole Limbaugh came in to get the win in relief for Samford. He gave up just one run on four hits.
“We threw the ball extremely well, especially Cole,” Dunn said. “I can’t say enough about him. I know Cole was pretty disappointed he didn’t get the start today, but he responded as well as you could and really took the ball and took control of the game. He stranded a runner when he came into the game and was really dominant over the next three innings.”
Samford improves to 26-26 overall and 11-15 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs need one win in their final series versus Davidson to clinch a spot in the SoCon Tournament. They will return to the field on Thursday at home against Davidson at 4 pm.
