(WIAT) — UPDATE (2x): According to a release from the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, searchers found the body of Nicholas Bower at the Jackson Shoals area around 12 p.m.
Bower’s body was spotted by a helicopter conducting an aerial search along the creek. His body was concealed by tall grass in the middle of the creek.
Upon being notified, sheriff’s investigators and searchers went to the creek and recovered the body.
Per an order from the District Attorney, Bower’s remains were turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office does not believe that foul play is involved at this time, and the exact cause of death is still pending.
UPDATE: According to Talladega County Deputy Coroner Larry Seals, the body that was found has been identified as that of Nicholas Bower.
The body was found in Choccolocco Creek, nearly a mile from where he went missing.
ORIGINAL: According to the Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy, a body has been recovered near the Talladega Superspeedway.
The body has yet to be identified.
It was recovered around 12 p.m. on Tuesday
Officials in the area have been searching for Nicholas Bower since May 4, when he disappeared from the South Park campground area of the superspeedway.
