(WIAT) — Mosquito season is here again, and although the vast majority of the flying insects are harmless, some of them can carry serious illnesses such as the West Nile Virus and Dengue Fever.
Experts say in order to avoid being bitten, it is important to dress with long sleeves and long pants during dusk and dawn hours.
Mosquitoes tend to be more prevalent during the early evening and early morning hours.
In addition, it’s important to get rid of standing water, which is a common breeding ground for the insect.
Lastly, using insect repellent is a common, easy way to prevent mosquito bites.
