GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) – Investigators are encouraging business owners in Gadsden to double check money after a rash of fake cash throughout the city.

Over the past month, police say about 25 fake bills have been passed. For the most part, it’s all smaller denominations. The counterfeit bills  consist of twenties, ten, fives and ones. The crooks have been spending the funny money all over town.

Police do not have any suspects. They ask business owners who notice fake money to report it immediately. That gives investigators the best chance of catching the people doing it.
