Tuscaloosa elementary school earns IB status

(WIAT) — A Tuscaloosa elementary school is celebrating its new international baccalaureate status.

The Tuscaloosa Magnet School is now a Primary Years program.

All elementary students zoned in Tuscaloosa City Schools can apply for 60 first grade spots.

The IB program is a non-traditional and international approach to education.

Tuscaloosa City Schools is working towards becoming the first and only program in the state with a Primary Years, Middle Years and a Diploma program for IB.
