BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – It has sat idle and unfinished for ten years.

Now the digital hospital on Highway 280 will finally open.

The name on the building will be Trinity after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in favor of the move from Montcalir Road.

The five year battle began after Trinity acquired the facility from Healthsouth. At one point the digital hospital would have been the crown jewel in Richard Scrushy’s Healsouth empire.

Now that the final legal hurdle has been completed hospital president Keith Granger says the campus will be open in 18 to 24 months.

Motorists will notice a change in the lights on the facility from the word *NOW* to the letters T-H-X.

You can see our interview with Granger below.
