TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Two suspects who were spotted carrying items from a home on the 20,000 Block of Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa have been arrested in Tuscaloosa.
Another suspect believed to be involved in the burglary remains at large.
According to the Lieutenant Andy Norris with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office, a call was placed about a burglary in progress around 1 p.m. on Friday.
The person who placed the call saw three people running from a home carrying items and then getting into a vehicle.
A release from the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office states that the witness tried to block the suspects’ vehicle.
As a result, the suspects wrecked their vehicle, crashing into a storage building as they tried to get around the witness’ blockade.
The three suspects exited the car and took off on foot.
The men were described by the witness as two white males and one black male.
Two of the men were arrested on Rockhouse Road, while the third suspect is at large.
A warrant for the third suspect will be obtained on Monday.
Timothy Shane Ely, a 21-year-old, and William Ely, an 18-year-old were arrested and charged with third degree burglary with a bond of $7,500 each.
More charge could be pressed in the coming days.
