MUNFORD, Ala. (WIAT) – Flooding in Munford forced the closure of a main bridge through town, causing frustration for residents Saturday.
Heavy rainfall caused Salt Creek to overflow. About a foot of water covered a bridge on Highway 21 most of the day. The Alabama Department of Transportation called out structural engineers to inspect the bridge. It remained closed Saturday night.
Rain did not make its way into the homes near Salty Creek but did topple some fences and leave piles of corn stalk scattered.
