(WIAT) - Members of the group “Mothers Who Want the Violence to Stop” gathered outside the CC Night Club on Monday, calling for the club to be shut down.
A man was shot outside of the venue, also known as Chocolate City Night Club, early Sunday morning.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, there is no word on his condition as of today.
In October 2012, 22-year-old Forenzo Walker was shot and killed outside of CC Night Club.
Members of group say they were surprised to learn that the club was still operating when they heard the news of the most recent shooting incident.
Sgt. Johnny Williams with the Birmingham Police Department says the man was taken to an area hospital where he is still recovering from his injuries, but they are not life threatening.
Williams adds that according to detectives the man was shot in the parking lot of the shopping center where the club is located. They do not believe the shooting had anything to do with the club.
