Now, researchers in Croatia are adding honeybees to the ranks.
The bees are a part of a research project sponsored by the European Union.
Honeybees, similar to the ones found in most backyards in America, are being trained to pick up the smell of TNT.
Researchers say they are so well trained that they have been able to detect underground landmines more than three miles away.
