BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Jefferson County EMA is hosting several agencies for a combined disaster preparedness exercise.

Tuesday, law enforcement teams practiced detecting bombs and testing for dangerous chemicals.

And on Wednesday, it was all about search and rescue. Which includes being able to coordinate tasks between several different agencies.

Kaitlin McCulley will have a special report on the exercise tonight, and how it relates to the rescue efforts in Oklahoma tonight, on CBS42 News at 5 and 6.
