ATHENS, Ga (WIAT) – The Auburn Womens golf team cranked out the best round of teams that started in the morning Thursday at the NCAA Championships.  Tigers shot a 3-ujnder 285 and are now 18-over for the tournament

The team needed to complete Wednesday’s weather-shortened round before starting their actual third round Thursday, and they played well in the last little bit of the 2nd round as well adding a pair of birdies to finish at 4-over

“I am so proud of these girls, you wouldn’t even believe it,” said student assistant Danielle Downey. “They played their hearts out today and really showed what they care capable of. I know Coach Evans was cheering us on back in Auburn and it was great they could do this for her.”

Evans is currently back at home, following along with her Tigers while she battles ovarian cancer.

Final-round tee times will start at 6:30 a.m. CT, Friday off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. The bottom 12 teams will play in the morning session with the top 12 in the afternoon.
