Greenville, SC (WIAT)-The Samford baseball team concluded the 2013 season with a 2-1 loss to Appalachian State today in the Southern Conference Tournament.
Samford ends its season with a record of 27-30.
C.K. Irby took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs. Irby pitched 9 innings, giving up two runs on five hits.
“Unfortunately, it’s kind of a fitting end to the season,” Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. “We pitched really well with C.K., but we swung the bats really poorly and we made the two big errors in the sixth. This was a tough day and a tough end to the season.”
For Samford at the plate, Christiaan Durdaller went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Zeth Stone, Richard Greene and Irby also had one hit each.
For Appalachian State, Sam Agnew-Wieland pitched 8 innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out seven batters to earn the win.
