KNOXVILLE, TN (WIAT) – Alabama won’t be heading back to Oklahoma City to defend its NCAA Softball Title. The Crimson Tide was defeated in game two of the Knoxville Super Regional by Tennessee 5-3 on Saturday afternoon. Alabama finishes the season 45-15, while the Lady Vols are headed to the Women’s College World Series with a 49-10 record.
Alabama jumped on the Vols early, leading 3-0, but Tennessee eventually took over scoring four runs in three innings to gain control of the game. Jackie Traina took the loss for the Tide. Senior Kayla Braud finished her final game for the Tide with a 2-for-3 game.
The five seniors for Alabama were Kayla Braud, Jackey Branham, Keima Davis, Courtney Conley and Lauren Sewell. They finished their four year careers with 208 wins, 1 National Championship, 3 SEC Championships and 2 trips to the College World Series.
