(WIAT) — The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has released its annual safety tips for summer grilling.
The NFPA reminds people to only use their propane and charcoal grills outside and to never leave them unattended.
It also wants people who choose to grill out to keep pets and children away from the barbecue area.
The NFPA says to make sure to check the propane tank hose for any leaks before using the grill.
Additionally, the NFPA advises letting coals cool completely if you use charcoal to cook.
